Definition
Beards are hairs that grow on the jaw, chin, upper lip, lower lip, cheeks, and neck of humans and other non-human animals. In humans, male adults are usually able to grow a beard. Some women with hirsutism, a hormonal condition of excessive hairiness, may have a beard.
Beards grow during puberty. Beard growth is linked to the growth of hair follicles in the area by dihydrotestosterone, which further affects beard growth after puberty. Dihydrotestosterone also promotes balding. Dihydrotestosterone is produced by testosterone, its levels vary from season to season. Beard growth rate is also hereditary.
The hair growth Cycle
Before we get into the real cycle, we have to look at why men grow facial hair but women and children don’t. And why are some men able to grow facial hair easier than others?
It's about testosterone. Hair follicles respond aggressively to testosterone and naturally, men produce more testosterone than women and children. Production of testosterone in somebody more than others.
It is possible to increase testosterone production through strenuous exercise, eating protein, fat, and carbs, sleeping well, and taking vitamin D. There are other ingredients that can help. But much depends on genetics. Some men can grow on the face without effort, others have to really put in the work.
When testosterone does its thing and the beard grows, the hair itself goes through three cycles: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Whenever you look at your beard in the mirror, one of these things happens.
Anagen is a growing stage, where hair grows about 1cm a month anywhere between two and seven years. This section determines how long your beard will grow. Men who feel that their beards do not exceed a certain length have a shorter anagen section than those with beards. Over time, the anagen phase decreases and affects the strength of the hair, which is why it is important to give your beard the nutrients it needs in a healthy lifestyle and proper grooming.
Catagen is a temporary phase and lasts two to three weeks. At this point, the hairdresser is happy with the progress being made and has set tools to commend their work. Now that it is not growing, the hair continues the process of cutting itself in the blood, ready for the telogen phase.
The four bared growth steps (Expert Homeopathy: Dr. Anutosh Chakraborty)
From the beginning of your beard growth journey when the anagen phase is full to the end when hair growth has brought wealth in the form of a full beard, you will go through four stages.
Step 1:
There is no better word to describe the early days of beard growth without the weirdness.
Growing a beard can be tricky at first. You are all ready and happy to ride, but you are still adapting to life without a razor and what your face looks like on the races. People will get used to your new look too.
However, in about 2-3 weeks of uninterrupted growth in which the real scratch kicks off: beard bite.
Beard biting is a major problem.
It arises from the age of shaving to sharpen hair and make it shrink like sandpaper. When those hairs fall out, they irritate the skin, causing dryness and inflammation. These things bring itching.
When the bite comes, it will check you out. Some find it so bad that they abandon the idea of growing a beard. But by keeping your beard clean by washing your beard and flushing your skin daily with chin oil, you will be able to reduce the irritation enough to get through it.
Step 2:
Phase 2 is four to six weeks. Itchiness will still be a problem (it will always be) but you will have a handle on it.
The biggest problem at this stage is clutter. You will have a noticeable beard, with some parts that are less attractive than others. Also, this is closely related to genes. Although you will be able to help your cause with certain lifestyle changes - exercise, better sleep, proper diet, etc.
If your beard is worn out, it is advisable to cut out the rest of the beard so that it does not look too thin.
Don't do it.
There are ways to hide patches without losing the growth of the moon.
Continue to brush your beard with chin oil. Use balm to add natural volume to your beard to make it look thicker. And call regularly to close spots.
Another issue you have to deal with is a mustache. At this stage, you will notice that the hair quickly goes to your mouth. Face this by tying the hair and looking outwards on each side from the center of your upper lip. Do this several times a day to train your ‘tache’ to grow from your mouth. If some hair does not fall out of line, remove it with a fine beard.
Step 3:
Stage 3 has eight to ten weeks. Anagen makes you proud and you play full beard. Lack of shaving means it won’t be the best style for manes, but regular brushing, washing,, and brushing will keep it looking good and free of dirt and bulk.
At 10 weeks, you should look for a good haircut to collect properly. Have them shape your cheeks, straighten your neck and remove your beard with curly hair. From there, visit them for three or four weeks to keep your beard in good condition.
Step 4:
You are now four to five months old. Your beard is neatly trimmed, skin irritation is manageable,e, and keeping your beard clean and clean is part of your weekly grooming routine such as shaving.
You will see a lot of hair fall out at this stage. That is simply because most hairs are in the telogen phase. It also means that new hair is on the way, making your beard even stronger.
And a strong beard is what you have. You're a real bearded man now.
This means you are free to style and shape your beard to suit your facial features. You can find out what beard style is right for your face in our 4 step guide to growing the last beard.
As well as the beard, oil, and balm you already use, you can accept products like beard and mustache in your collection. These products help soften and manage hair so that your beard stays the point.
